Leroy Francis Kampa passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 in Morton, WA. Leroy was born to Frank Henry and Hyacinth Marie (Pesall) Kampa on September 21, 1952 in Webster, SD. After graduating Webster High School, Leroy obtained his Associates Degree in Computer Science at Green River Community College. He proudly served our country as a Staff Sargent in the United States Air Force, stationed at Ramstein, Germany. Leroy Francis Kampa passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 in Morton, WA. Leroy was born to Frank Henry and Hyacinth Marie (Pesall) Kampa on September 21, 1952 in Webster, SD. After graduating Webster High School, Leroy obtained his Associates Degree in Computer Science at Green River Community College. He proudly served our country as a Staff Sargent in the United States Air Force, stationed at Ramstein, Germany. During his service Leroy received a National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Award and Air Force Good Conduct Medal. In 1975 he was the USAF Wrestling Coach and Champion. After the military Leroy worked as a Computer Technician retiring after 35 years.
In his early years Leroy enjoyed wrestling, football, and baseball. Leroy was a Boy Scout Den Leader and little league coach. Most of all he loved spending time with family and friends while hunting, fishing and camping. His love and passion for the outdoors is his greatest legacy. Leroy was also adamant about fixing things whether he knew how or not; he stuck with it until he got it done: this determination, he passed to his kids and grandkids. Leroy was very proud of his grandkids.
Leroy is preceded in death by his father and sister Mary Ann Kampa.
He is survived by his mother; sons, Kyle F. Kampa, Morton, WA, Joel G. Kampa, Algona, WA and Adam L. Kampa, Puyallup, WA; siblings, JoAnn (Gordon) Norton, Hotsprings, SD; Bob (Vicki) Kampa, Elk River, MN, Ray Kampa and Mark (Vicki) Kampa, Webster, SD; Grandchildren, Nicholas Kerrigan, Alyssa Kampa, Matthew Parvin, Hunter Kampa, Aiden Kampa, Brenna Kampa, Jackson Kampa; friend Kathlee M (Lewin) Kampa and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Graveside Service will be held at 9am on Friday April 24, at Tahoma National Cemetery. A Celebration of life will be held in Morton at a later date. Memorials may be donations in Leroy's name to Kyle Kampa at PO BOX 511 Morton, WA 98356. Arrangements are under the care of Brown Mortuary, Morton.
